Mission & New
Site
Below is the description of the mission
of this site and the welcoming message describing the
site.
Welcome!
This
site is designed to be a source of education, information
and encouragement as well as to enhance communication
between singles of all ages. In order for the Bulletin
Board section to be effective, we rely on you to send
us announcements about upcoming activities in your church
area. (Click the “Contact Us” button on the menu to the left.)
New Site
Welcome to this new Web site for singles, sponsored by
the United Church of God. I was happy to be asked to
help with this site, which is dedicated to items of
interest to singles in the Church around the world.
Several have expressed the desire to see a site that
would encourage communication and education of singles
without a focus on “matchmaking” or being a “dating
service”. As the use of the site has increased and more
input has been given, we have added several features
that will make it easier for those who wish to find
out more about their fellow singles. Of course, all
of the additional items (Bios, photos, interests, and
ages) are entirely voluntary. We are also extremely
concerned about individual security and identity theft,
so we caution everyone not to enter personally identifiable
information that would make it easy for someone to cause
you trouble.
We hope this site will fill that need and would appreciate
submissions from singles--of information about activities
in your area or region, of book reviews you feel would
be of interest to other singles, your suggestions for
improving the site, or any other comments or suggestions
you wish to make. Submissions can be made by clicking
the “Contact Us” menu button to the left.
We also realize single people often want to communicate
with other singles. In order to respect your privacy,
we do not list email addresses. However, we will allow
you to register on this site and enter an email address
if you do not mind being contacted by other visitors
to this site. On the E-List page you will find
a listing of people who have registered with us. The
list can be sorted in name, country or state order.
If you want to send a message to someone on the list,
click the mail icon in front of their name. If they
have given us an email address, an email window will
open and you can send them a message. Note that their
email address will not display, but your message will
be sent. Whether or not they reply after receiving your
message will be up to them.
Special
thanks go to Ina McLemore for providing the "drive"
to get this site started, to Paul Wasilkoff in the home
office for his help in creating the page template, and
to Kevin Treybig for his programming work, with some
assistance from Dan Deininger's company.
We hope you enjoy and benefit from this site.
